AWARENESS & LETS SHARE

Ms. Israa chose to lead the initiative “Awareness” in collaboration with her colleagues in order to benefit their community and add value to what makes the community prosper. BewilStep Of Peacedered she stood for a time. She was trapped in the thinking on whether she moved on with her ambition and the hesitation towards embracing this initiative from inception to execution. She eventually arrived at the decision of joining the Program of Step of Peace.

In the Program of “Step of Peace”, Israa came to know and grasp the concept of gender and its roles, concepts and analysis of conflict from the perspective of gender as well as the concept and tactics of active non-violence and the Resolution 1325. In addition, she managed to comprehend the concept of community participation, its goals and its importance to the community service.

To implement what she learnt, Israa along with her team decided to customize the direction of their initiative to become a peace building and peace awareness initiative. She approached the Youth Leadership & Development Foundation to seek the support needed for her project: the culture of peace. The project consists of four actions out of which three are dedicated to train youth on gender, the Resolution 1325 and the Resolution 2250 in addition to the role the youth have to play in building a truly community peace. The other action in this project was the production of a short film revolving around the challenges women face to overcome their social obstacles. The project includes other activities that seek to raise the level of concrete awareness about peace issues.

Ms. Hanan is another youth leader who chose to lead the “Let’s Share” after she came to know closely her colleagues in the initiative while training them in the YLDF program and shared their dreams about peace. The “Let’s Share” initiative team has been introduced to share what they have learned in the program through their Awareness & Development Initiative. A short film was also produced to place a great emphasis on the community participation through groups within the Yemeni society and the implementation of the project of Peace Feather that aims to train talented youth to come up with their drawings about peace and reflect what they have learnt about peace accordingly.

Today, Ms. Israa and Ms. Hanan along with their teams have become active members of the society and they confidently taking theirs steps of success towards the building of community peace.
