The Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hadhramaut University to establish a Tech Hub and provide training for young women as part of the project “Empowering Yemeni Young Women Through Access to the Digital Economy”, funded by the European Union and in partnership with War Child Organzation.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khanbesh, President of Hadhramaut University, Prof. Dr. Najat Ahmed Bousba’a, Dean of the Faculty of Girls, Mr. Fawzi Al-Hakimi, Digital Economy Specialist at War Child, and Ms. Shahoor Al-Shubaily, Project Manager at YLDF.

Prof. Dr. Khanbesh expressed his pride in this partnership, describing it as a pioneering step that contributes to empowering young women to enter the digital economy. He emphasized the university’s strong commitment to initiatives that enhance women’s role in development and open new opportunities for their future.

The project targets 525 young women in Al Mukalla district, aiming to equip them with digital, vocational, entrepreneurial, and soft skills. It also seeks to provide a safe educational environment, modern training facilities, mentorship support, and connections to digital labor markets and entrepreneurial opportunities. Additionally, the project aims to raise awareness among families, civil society, and the private sector about the importance of women’s safe and dignified participation in the digital economy.

This agreement represents a genuine investment in the future of a generation of young women, providing them with practical opportunities to develop their digital and professional skills, contribute effectively to the digital labor market, and strengthen their economic independence.
