Launch of the Introductory Workshop for the Emergency Food Security and Early Recovery Project in Amran and Dhamar Governorates

The introductory workshop for the Emergency Food Security and Early Recovery Project (EFSER) was held in Amran governorate. The project is implemented by the Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF) in partnership with and supported by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH) and with the support of Caritas Germany, and in coordination with the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMCHA) in Amran governorate.

The workshop was attended by the Director General of SCMCHA in Amran governorate, Mr. Hamir Abdullah Al-Sa’ar; the Director General of the district, Mr. Samir Abdu Al-Dhiyani; the Director General of Agriculture in the governorate, Mr. Naji Abdullah Salama; the Director General of Public Relations in the governorate, Mr. Yahya Ahmed Tuwaf; and the Director of the Livestock Department at the Agriculture Office, Mr. Zaid Yahya Abu Mansur, along with a number of staff from SCMCHA, the governorate, and the local authorities. All emphasized the importance of the project and its role in serving local communities.

In its new phase, the project targets 522 host and internally displaced families in Jabal Eyal Yazid district in Amran and Dawran Anis district in Dhamar through:

  • Rehabilitating 10 community assets to preserve and improve water resources and help mitigate the effects of floods.

  • Supporting 530 smallholder farmers with agricultural inputs, training, and extension services to increase their productivity and improve their income.

  • Providing temporary job opportunities for 522 skilled and unskilled workers through the Cash-for-Assets/Food-for-Assets (CFA/FFA) approach.

  • Supporting 200 households affected by shocks and emergencies to meet their life-saving needs.

In a speech of appreciation, Mr. Yahya Tuwaf, Director of Public Relations in the governorate, praised the role of the Youth Leadership Development Foundation in implementing successful and tangible projects in the field. He emphasized the importance of continuing this project, given its direct impact on improving livelihoods and enhancing food security among the targeted communities.

The workshop concluded by stressing the importance of integrating efforts between local authorities, implementing partners, and donors to ensure the project’s success and achieve its objectives in serving the most vulnerable communities.
