Hadramaut Local Authority Reviews the “Empowering Yemeni Young Women and Adolescent Girls through Access to the Digital Economy” Project

As part of the joint coordination for the implementation of the “Empowering Yemeni Young Women and Adolescent Girls through Access to the Digital Economy” project, the Secretary-General of the Local Council in Hadramaut Governorate, Mr. Saleh Aboud Al-Amqi, was briefed on the project details. The project is implemented by the Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF), with support from the European Union, in partnership with War Child Nederland, and in coordination with Hadramout University and civil society organizations.

This came during an official meeting with Eng. Qaboos Ali, War Child’s project coordinator, and Ms. Shohoor Al-Shubailee, the project manager at YLDF, during which the project’s objectives and implementation mechanism were reviewed.

The project aims to establish a specialized technology hub in Mukalla and will target 525 young women and girls over a period of three years, training them in advanced digital fields including modern technologies, digital marketing, e-commerce, branding, digital content management, and other digital skills.

The goal is to empower participants with essential skills for the digital job market, enhance their economic opportunities, and support their entry into the world of entrepreneurship.

Mr. Al-Amqi praised the importance of the project, confirming the local authority’s support, led by Governor Mr. Mabkhout Mubarak Bin Madi, for such quality initiatives that promote human development and align with modern-day demands.

He also expressed the authority’s readiness to provide a supportive and enabling environment to ensure the project's success, calling on local and international actors to support similar initiatives that help enhance the role of youth and women in achieving sustainable development in the governorate.

For their part, the project representatives expressed their appreciation for the local authority’s engagement, affirming that the project will be a transformative step in the lives of young women, contributing to the creation of real economic opportunities amid the continuous growth of the digital economy.
